Initially Chennai Super Kings won the toss and opted to bowl and KKR opener Narine and Lynn took the charge by scoring 18 runs in the first over itself, but one smart move from Dhoni as he brought Harbhajan Singh in action and he took the wicket of dangerous looking Sunil Narine. From there CSK took 5 wickets in half of the inning itself as after 10 over KKR were 89/5. But it was Andre Russell’s inning of 88 runs in 36 ball which took the final score above 200 as CSK had to chase 203 runs in 20 overs.

CSK started chase in style as their opener scored team’s fastest first 50 runs in 3.4 overs only and before timeout score read 75-1 in 6 overs. Once KKR introduced their spinners in the game the run rate slowed down in the middle overs but it was Sam Billings quick inning which accelerated the run rate. Final over and 17 run required was not an impossible job for CSK players as Vinay Kumar delivered a no-ball and Bravo hit the six to slow down the equation and 4 runs needed from last 2 balls, Ravindra Jadeja hit the winning six of 5th ball and CSK won the match by 5 wickets.
